April 21, 2026, Baltimore, MD – SilcsBio, a technology company that develops and markets software and services for structure-based drug design, is excited to announce the hiring of Ashlin Poruthoor, Ph.D. as Applications Scientist.

Ashlin has been a post-doctoral fellow with Prof. Alexander MacKerell at the University of Maryland Baltimore investigating novel fingerprints for ML-AI tools using SILCS and applying them to diverse cases such as the permeability of drug-like molecules across different membrane systems, renal clearance due to transporters, and the development of new-class inhibitors.

Ashlin earned his Ph.D. in Biophysics, Computational and Structural Biology from the University of Rochester. As a graduate student, Ashlin developed workflows to determine the free-energy landscapes of phase-separating bilayers using enhanced sampling protocols and molecular dynamics. During these years, he also interned twice with Moderna to investigate the relationship between the composition of ionizable lipids and RNA during LNP formulation and establish binding free energy workflows for internal pipelines.

About SilcsBio:
SilcsBio, LLC offers the SILCS platform technology that advances computational drug design applications through detailed protein mapping that accounts for flexibility and solvation and enables highly efficient ligand binding evaluation, virtual screening, and more. SilcsBio software and services span from target protein mapping and analysis through lead optimization and offers key insights for biological therapeutic formulations. The proprietary software unlocks hidden binding hotspots of target proteins and reveals the preferred ligand chemistries at those sites to rapidly guide the drug design process. SilcsBio most recently announced a partnership with Aikido Pharmaceuticals. Learn more: www.silcsbio.com
